Games, Animation and VFX Skills Qualifications

Games, Animation and VFX Skills Qualifications

Designed by Industry for Industry

These AIM Technical Qualifications have been designed in partnership with the NextGen Skills Academy: an initiative invested in by both government and Industry, developing the next generation of talent for the Games, Animation and VFX Industries.

With a consortium of industry partners including Double Negative, Framestore, Moving Picture Company, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Microsoft and Ubisoft Reflections leading the content and offering their ongoing support to ensuring these qualifications continue to reflect the nature and pace of industry growth, good progression routes for our students are increasing apace. Our supporting universities are offering guaranteed interviews and, for the highest achieving student, unconditional Offers. As Technical Level Qualifications, the Diploma and Extended Diploma carry automatic UCAS Points and College Performance Points. The Qualifications have also been designed to support progression to Level 4 Apprenticeships.

Developing Employability Skills

The AIM Awards approach to working with our providers is very much one of partnership. All centres delivering these qualifications are invited to join our free AIM Creative Community which includes UKIE Student Membership for all students during the length of their  Diploma and/or Extended Diploma course and ongoing support for qualification management and delivery, regular CPD workshops and a flexible yet comprehensive external verification service.

The Extended Diploma qualification is comparable to three A levels and is designed to be achievable in a two year period. A Diploma qualification is available for study and achievement at the end of the first year. Both Qualifications have been designed to offer a dynamic and comprehensive approach to preparation for work in these industries. This means that they are demanding and require learners to have commitment as well as GCSE level skills in Maths and English with some understanding of coding.

“The work of AIM Awards learners is very advanced and the qualification structure allows us to really focus on developing the skills required by industry. Aim Awards are like a breath of fresh air. The team are great. Enquiries are promptly dealt with and customer service is excellent.”

Mike Jaques, Sunderland College’s Curriculum Leader for Digital
