AIM supports the growth in the end-point assessment (EPA) of apprenticeship standards, delivery of high-quality EPA, and working in partnership with major employers across sectors.  We are currently focusing our work on the creative and cultural industries.We are seeking to recruit talented and motivated assessors for the following standards:
  • Advertising and Marketing Executive
  • Publishing Assistant

End-point assessors can’t assess the same leaners they teach or coach. They must ensure their occupational competence and knowledge are up to date to ensure they have the right skills and knowledge to remain credible to employers.

As an associate end-point assessor working with AIM you will:

  • assess and document apprentice competence against apprenticeship standards at designated venues using the stated assessment methods
  • carry out and document end-point assessment activities in line with AIM and regulatory arrangements
  • provide concise feedback to apprentices to explain assessment decisions
  • complete and submit reports within the necessary timescales
  • provide advice and support on end-point assessment
  • participate in training and standardisation activities to ensure a consistent approach to end-point assessment
  • maintain a thorough knowledge of the organisation and AIM end-point assessment policies and procedures

Minimum requirements 

  • experience of assessment, particularly end-point assessment is desirable, however not essential as successful assessors will be required to undertake assessment training
  • up-to-date knowledge of end-point assessment
  • relevant experience as an industry practitioner within the area as outlined in the standard
  • excellent organisational skills and a professional approach
  • timekeeping and punctuality
  • problem solving skills and ability to stay calm under pressure
  • good interpersonal and communication skills
  • willingness to travel
  • self-motivated and possess a flexible approach with apprentices and employers
  • a driving licence is desirable

This freelance role represents an exciting opportunity to work with a successful awarding organisation and end-point assessment organisation. AIM has a portfolio of over 500 regulated qualifications across a wide range of sectors from entry level through to level 6.  As an end-point assessment organisation, we are working to become the end-point assessment organisation of choice for the creative and cultural industries. 

The role involves writing and reviewing questions for our Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Games, Animation and VFX Skills. The qualifications include two externally marked examinations: a core principles exam in year one and a case study exam in year two.

The ideal post holder will be up to date with current and emerging technologies in the GAVFX sector. They will need to write accurately and consistently to ensure overall standards are maintained. The ability to work to tight timescales and ensure deadlines are met is an essential aspect of the role.

They will ideally have a degree and/or equivalent industrial experience in the creative and cultural industries. They should have teaching/training experience of the relevant subject and level, and they should have experience of exam question writing.

AIM Qualifications and Assessment Organisation is a registered charity operating as an awarding organisation, Access to HE validating agency and end-point assessment organisation. We have a head office based in Derby and are dedicated to offering a high quality, efficient and effective service whilst remaining supportive and accessible.

Summary of the role

We are currently recruiting freelance examiners for our Level 3 Extended Diploma and Diploma in Games, Animation and VFX Skills. There is a requirement to attend mandatory training once per year.

Who are we looking for

AIM supports the growth in the end-point assessment (EPA) of apprenticeship standards, delivery of high-quality EPA, and working in partnership with major employers across sectors.  We are currently focusing our work on the creative and cultural industries.

We are now seeking to recruit talented and motivated individuals to join us as Assessment Facilitators who will ensure that all EPA testing undertaken is completed through:

  • ensuring necessary documentation is in place and completed
  • representing AIM to apprentices, employers and/or training providers, ensuring our customer service values are maintained
  • managing own diary effectively to ensure assessments start as scheduled
  • setting up the assessment room/s
  • supervising learners sitting assessments whilst ensuring a calm environment which will give apprentices the best possible opportunity to be successful   
  • coordinating the introduction of assessors/apprentices
  • invigilation of assessments in line with AIM's invigilation policy, delivery and quality assurance requirements
  • report all risks, issues and suspected malpractice encountered during invigilation of assessment activities
  • adhere to health and safety processes and procedures, including at employer/training provider sites
  • ensure AIM's policies and procedures are followed at all times

Being an assessment facilitator for an AIM end-point assessment you are most likely to be the first, face-to-face contact the apprentice and training provider staff will had with AIM. The role requires excellent customer service skills including effective communication skills, confident communication, be comfortable working under pressure and have the ability to multi-task.

Drawing on your previous experience of invigilating assessments and work within education, you will work closely with the EPAO coordinator to deliver and effectively contribute to continually improve the delivery of the testing element of the apprenticeship end-point assessments and ensure that you are providing the best possible service for our EPA apprentices and customers.

Whilst experience is preferred, full training will be provided for the successful candidates. Whilst the role is ad-hoc, hours will be agreed with the successful candidates in advance and there will be an opportunity to work regularly.
