What is an apprenticeship framework?

An apprenticeship framework is a definition of requirements for an apprenticeship programme. It is used by training providers, colleges, and employers to ensure that all apprenticeship programmes are delivered consistently and to agreed standards. Each framework includes details of the qualifications needed to be completed, the key skills targets, and any other requirements of the apprenticeship.

Learners must achieve a minimum of 45 credits including 18 credits from the mandatory units in Group A, at least 6 credits from Optional Group B and at least 6 credits from Optional Group C. Learners may choose the remaining 15 credits from the optional units in groups B, C or D. A minimum of 24 credits must be achieved at Level 3. Units with the same title are barred against each other.
